Visit the Sinharaja Rainforest – This lower Montane wet evergreen forest is Sri Lanka’s only Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. The different layers of this rainforest shelters different types of flora and fauna. In general, Sinharaja is home to monkeys, bats, butterflies, flying squirrels, eagles, fishing cats and elephants. It also shelters 95% of Sri Lanka’s endemic birds.

After breakfast, proceed to Galle Fort, one the most recognizable sights in the south of Sri Lanka. No visit to the south will be complete without seeing this impressive architectural masterpiece, built by the Dutch during the 17th century. It was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1988 for its architectural and historical significance. Although this complex is now lined with designer stores, chic restaurants and cafes, it continues to maintain its traditional charm. Visit the nearby Dutch Museum and the Dutch Church before proceeding to the hotel for overnight stay.

Travel to Tangalle, one of the best places in Sri Lanka to soak up the sun. The rich marine life and dramatic coastline of Tangalle is best explored by sea. Perched on an enormous rock at an altitude of over 200 meters, this temple is believed to have been built during the 3rd century. Proceed to Belihul Oya. Located approximately 160 kilometers from Colombo, Belihul Oya is a little scenic mountainous hamlet with cool, soothing weather conditions. The unique biodiversity of Belihul Oya makes it a haven for nature lovers. Proceed a little further and you will see the magnificent Bambarakanda Falls, Sri Lanka’s highest waterfall. Later, go canoeing or kayaking on the calm waters of the Samanalawewa Reservoir. Walk towards the dam and enjoy the breathtaking views of nearby mountains and waterfalls.
