Vietnam health precautions

Health in Vietnam

Do you need to do any vaccine to travel to Vietnam?

Please note that no vaccine is mandatory, but we recommend you be up to date with the universal DTP (Diphtheria-Tetanus-Polio) vaccine.

Subject to the advice of your doctor or vaccination center, the following vaccines are recommended: Typhoid fever / hepatitis A-B / Japanese encephalitis and rabies. There is a risk of malaria in remote areas of Vietnam, so you need to protect yourself against mosquitoes and consult your doctor for additional treatments.

In addition, in order to avoid the possibility of high health costs, we recommend that you get medical insurance that covers medical costs in the Vietnam. Also, do not forget to pack all your necessary medicines.

Tap water is not potable and should not be drunk. Bottled drinking water is readily available, or you can ask for filtered water. Avoid consuming raw or undercooked foods, like salads and stick to fully cooked, hot food items. Observe basic hygiene rules such as washing your hands regularly before and after meals.
